The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold an open-house public hearing on Tuesday, Aug. 10 to discuss the location and design for a new four-lane highway connecting U.S. Route 54 in Miller County to the Lake of the Ozarks Community Bridge toll facility on Route MM in Camden County. The new facility will also connect to the existing Horseshoe Bend Parkway.
The hearing will be held from 4 - 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Mills Elementary Building, located on the School of the Osage campus at 1571 Bagnell Dam Blvd. in Lake Ozark, Mo. The facility is accessible to the physically disabled.
The roadway project is approximately two miles long and estimated to cost $12.6 million. When completed, the new roadway will be known as Route 242.
Right of way and easements are needed for the project. Work will begin in early 2011 and take approximately one year to complete. Tentative schedules for construction will be discussed at the hearing.
During the hearing, no formal presentations will be made. The public may attend at any time during the advertised hours to speak with members of the project team.
